Meeting of BoD of state cooperative seed production and marketing federation
Bhopal, May 25, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Number of regional offices of Seed Federation in state will be increased to expand activities of State Cooperative Seed Production and Marketing Federation. Efforts would be made to obtain Rs. 6 crore annually for this from the state government. This was decided at a meeting of federation’s Board of Directors here today. Cooperatives Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava and Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Mr. Gaurishankar Bisen also attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed working of district level seed producing cooperative societies. It was also decided that committees headed by CEOs of Zila Panchayats should be constituted to provide necessary assistance to these societies. Other members of the committees will include Deputy Director Agriculture posted in the district, Assistant Director Horticulture and Regional Seed Certification Officer. The meeting was informed that MP Agro was assigned the work to install machinery in godowns-cum-grading plants. MP Agro did not accomplish the work within time-limit. Therefore, it would be got done through Madhya Pradesh State Cooperatives Marketing Federation (MARKFED).
The meeting also decided to invite representatives of member societies of the federation as special invitee members in meetings of Board of Directors. Three representatives of seed producing societies will be given representation for one year each. Established in year 2004, the federation helps farmers get seeds in accordance with their demand. Agriculture Production Commissioner Mr. P.C. Meena, Principal Secretary Agriculture Mr. Rajesh Rajora, Commissioner Cooperatives Mr. Manish Shrivastava and Director Farmers Welfare Mr. Mohan Lal also attended the meeting.
