CAG Mr. Sharma pays courtesy visit to CM Mr. Chouhan


Lauds state’s financial condition, congratulates CM for success of Simhastha

lead9.6.16Bhopal, June 9, 2016 (Muslim Saleem):   Controller and Auditor General of India Mr. Shashi Kant Sharma paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Mantralaya here today. Lauding state’s financial condition, Mr. Sharma control over fiscal deficit and other financial indices is good for future. He also lauded increase in rate of state’s GDP. Mr. Sharma said that progress of all schemes in the state is good and they are yielding good results, too. The Chief Minister informed that added attention has been paid to social infrastructure’s construction. Time-limits are set to complete all projects to avoid cost escalation. Mr. Sharma congratulated CM for success of Simhastha. Mr. Chouhan informed Mr. Sharma about strategy adopted for Simhastha. Mr. Sharma informed the Chief Minister that for the first time expenditure report of local bodies is being prepared. With the assistance of CAG, Government of India has also chalked out rules for social audit. This will ensure more transparency. He stressed the need to pay more attention to expend more on development of social infrastructure. The Chief Minister informed that special attention has been paid in the state on construction of social infrastructure during previous years. He said that in the capacity of Welfare State, it become imperative to intervene in issues pertaining to social concerns.

Giving example of onion procurement, he said that due to state government’s intervention, prices of onion have started becoming static in the market to the benefit of onion producing farmers. He informed that group piped drinking water schemes have been sanctioned for thousands of villages. These projects will be completed by year 2022. Mr. Sharma said that this would cast positive effect on public health.  Referring to mid-day meal scheme, the Chief Minister said that network of private schools has also expanded in towns. He informed that large number of tribal students of tribal areas have got admission in institutes like NIT and IIT due to increase in quality of education in government schools.  The Chief Minister presented a book on ‘Simhastha Mahakumbh’ to Mr. Sharma, ACS Finance Mr. A.P. Shrivastava and Principal Secretary to CM Mr. S.K. Mishra were present on the occasion.
