New Delhi: A money extortion racket has been busted through acumen of victim’s friend, who had shot video of the blackmailer
he 26-year-old business manager and his friend, who were detained by Delhi Police for allegedly abducting and raping a woman in their car, would have gone to jail if a family friend hadn’t recorded his conversation with the alleged rape victim Kajal’s friend Kishan.
The family friend, who refused to be named, approached Kishan posing as a well-wisher and asked him about Kajal’s ordeal. Kishan then revealed their plan to extort Rs 15 lakh from the youth’s family. Kajal also divulged that she had extorted money from five other people in a similar way. In the audio recording, Kishan is heard narrating a story about the abduction and rape in a moving car, but it had a lot of loose ends. “When I confronted him, Kishan said he was willing to settle the issue for Rs 15 lakh. I then started recording my conversation with the man,” said the family friend.
The recording also has Kishan talking about extorting money from random people by registering false rape complaints. Kishan and the woman would note down the numbers of luxury cars and identify the occupants. They would then cook up a story based on plots they watched in a crime serial and approach a police station claiming that the woman was abducted and raped inside a moving car. The unsuspecting victim would then be picked up and detained for rape. In the meantime, Kishan would liaison with the family of the victim to pay “compensation”.
