Anantapur: In a bizarre incident a man allegedly committed suicide after he failed to participate in the birthday celebrations of his daughter, at Jangalapalli village of Hindupur mandal in Anantapur district on Tuesday night. Hindupur rural assistant sub-inspector Venkat Ramudu said Linga Swamy, 30, a native of Pedakottapally in Mahbubnagar district, had been working at the Handri-Neeva canal site for quite some time. On Sunday, he purchased a cake for his younger daughter Ravali’s birthday. While returning home, Swamy consumed an overdose of liquor. He fell asleep and all efforts by his wife and children failed to wake him up. The family however, celebrated Ravali’s birthday by cutting the cake. On Monday morning Swamy woke up.
