Gram Panchayats should prepare Water Budget-RD Minister Shri Patel

Bhopal, June 24, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Kamleshwar Patel has urged Panch-Sarpanchs of 22 thousand 812 Gram Panchayats of the state through a letter that in order to face drinking water problem, Jal-Sammelans should be organized for preparing water budget. Strategy for water conservation should be prepared in each village. Gram Panchayats must assess water requirement for drinking and farming purpose, its availability, status of traditional water resources and water collection capacity in their respective areas. Ensuer people’s participation for works in augmentation of sources of water. Moreover, encourage farmers to construct farms’ boundaries, for development of infrastructure like check dam and to sow less water crops. Minister Shri Patel further mentioned that the state government is working constantly for conservation of traditional water sources and construction of new water infrastructure. There are 40 such rivers in 36 districts of the state, which have stopped flowing. Work to revive these rivers has been started at large scale. This will help in irrigating 2 lakh 129 hectare agriculture land of over one lakh 25 thousand farmers of 3621 villages. Shri Patel asserted that the state government is committed to solve the water crisis.
