3088 k.m. long roads and 86 bridges constructed in MP under P.M.G.S.Y in 6 months

Provision of Rs. 2500 crore for construction of roads and bridges in current year Bhopal, July 26, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): The Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Kamleshwar Patel has informed that 3 thousand 88 k.m. roads and 86 bridges have been constructed in the state during the last 6 months under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. This helped in connecting 416 settlements with roads. He mentioned that work to connect remote settlements with 500 or excess population of general areas and settlements with 250 or excess population of tribal areas with all weather roads is being done in phase manner. Minister Shri Patel further informed that in the first phase, 18 thousand 188 roads of 72 thousand 100 k.m. length have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 21 thousand 521 crore. Total 17 thousand 231 contact-less settlements have been connected by these roads. During a period between April 2018 and March 2019, 751 roads of 4 thousand 521 k.m. length have been constructed by incurring an expenditure of Rs. 2 thousand 534 crore. This has facilitated smooth and convenient transport to 672 settlements. Rs. 2500 crore for fiscal year 2019-20 Minister Shri Kamleshwar Patel informed that a provision of Rs. 2 thousand 500 crore has been made by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department in this fiscal year for Pradhan Mantri roads. Two thousand 6 hundred long k.m. roads and 275 bridges-culverts will be constructed by this amount.
