11 killed in two boat capsize in Bhopal during Ganesh immersion, 6 people rescued

Bhopal, September 13, 2019 (Muslim Saleem): During the Ganesh immersion at Khatlapura Ghat of Chhota Talab in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal at around 4:30 am Friday, 11 people were killed when two boats capsized. 6 people were rescued. According to eyewitnesses, the two boats were connected. There were 20-25 people on board. However, this figure has not been confirmed by the administration. They have appealed that if any family member involved in immersion has not reached home, inform. Meanwhile, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the case. Two sailors have been booked. The deceased were residents of 100 quarters of Piplani. SDRF teams, divers and police teams are present on the occasion. Public Relations Minister PC Sharma said, “The death of 11 people in the accident is unfortunate.” How it happened will be investigated. “The headquarters of the Madhya Pradesh Homeguard and the State Disaster Rescue Team (SDRF) are located where the incident took place. No one wore a life jacket: Eyewitness According to eyewitnesses, the two boats were tied together, forming a platform in between them and kept a statue for immersion. There were about 20-25 people on the boats. All were aged 27–28 years. No one was wearing a life jacket. While immersing the statue, one boat overturned and people jumped on the other. The other boat also sank as the balance deteriorated. Government with afflicted families: Kamal Nath CMO Madhya Pradesh 4 @CMMadhyaPradesh Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath has expressed grief over the death of 11 people due to drowning at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal during Ganesh immersion. He said that the government is with the families of the victims. Whoever is negligent will not be spared. All the victim families will be given a compensation amount of Rs 4-4 lakh. Administration asked people for information The administration has said that families whose boys are missing, inform us. At the same time, the police are going to the colony and questioning people who came for immersion. All the dead are aged between 15-30 years The 11 youths whose bodies were retrieved were named Parvez Khan (15), Karan (16), Arjun Sharma (18), Rahul Mishra (20), Harsh (20), Sunny Thackeray (22), Vishal (22), Karan (26), Vicky (28), Rahul Verma (30), Rohit Maurya (30).
