Bhopal, September 16, 2019 (Muslim Saleem): Addressing the concerns raised by Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCS), the Union Minister for Finance Smt. N. Sitharaman has taken a decision not to levy 2 percent TDS on cash payment of more than Rs. One crore, so that immediate payment to farmers for their produces could be ensured. It is to be mentioned that the Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath has also requested the Union Finance Minister for not deducting the 2 percent TDS.
Agents working under the Agriculture Produce Market Committees will not have to pay 2 percent TDS on more than Rs. One crore cash payment. The farmers and stake holders of the agriculture sector will not face inconvenience by this step.
