Announcement by Urban Development Minister, PR Minister and Mayor Bhopal, September 18, 2019 (Muslim Saleem): Boat Club of Bhopal will be made plastic free. Cloth bags will be given here for use. The Minister for Public Relations Shri P.C. Sharma, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Shri Jaivardhan Singh and Mayor Shri Alok Sharma inaugurated a Bag Stitching Kiosk at Boat Club. They also flagged off Alto Car to be given to the Zonal Officers. Shri Singh himself drove the car. They administered oath of cleanliness to the people present at the programme. The Minister for Public Relations Shri Sharma said that not littering but now only cleanliness will prevail. The Zonal officer ensures that not a single polythene should be seen on this road. He said that officers of all the departments should be linked with the ongoing Cleanliness Campaign in Bhopal. He further mentioned that the Shahjahani Park should be developed according to its name. There is a proposal to ply metro train upto Mandideep and Sehore, he added. Make project for development of Boat Club The Minister for Urban Development and Housing Shri Singh told that along with making the boat club plastic free, project for the boat club development should also be made. Tourists must get better facilities here. He mentioned that this step of today will prove to be significant in making Bhopal plastic free completely. Including Ice cream packing, we will have to think solutions to get rid of single use plastic of other products. Shri Singh said that ranking will be given to remove stray cattle, street dogs, pigs from big cities similar to the Swachhata Sarvekshan. In big cities, 40 points will be given for removal of stray cattle, 40 points for street dogs and 20 points for removal of pigs. Similarly for smaller cities, the ranking will be determined by deciding the points. He said, zonal officers should listen to public representatives seriously and take appropriate action. Connect self-help groups of every ward to make cloth bags.
Mayor Shri Alok Sharma said that a planned action plan will be formulated to make the city clean. He told the officials that there should not be any contradiction in what they say and what they do. A clean city will be handed over to the next generation. Shri Sharma said, the life-line Upper Lake of Bhopal will be made plastic free.
The Mahashakti Seva Kendra, Lions Club, Akriti Eco City and Sakaratmak Soch Sanstha were honoured on the occasion. Commissioner Municipal Corporation Bhopal Shri Vijay Dutta informed about the campaign. The Leader of Opposition of Municipal Corporation Shri Mohammed Sagheer Ahmed also addressed the programme. He said that the visitors here will be given a cloth bag for Rs. 5, which can also be returned. Bags of used cloth will also be made in the kiosk. Local public representatives were present during the programme.
