Release relief amount of Rs. 6621.28 crore, CM Kamal Nath urges Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi

Bhopal, October 21, 2019 (Muslim Saleem): The Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath met the Union Minister for Home Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi today. Shri Kamal Nath informed him about the damage caused by the floods due to the excessive rainfall in many districts of the state. The Chief Minister asked the Union Home Minister for early release of relief amount of Rs. 6621.28 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund for immediate help of the farmers and other affected people. In a memorandum submitted to the Union Home Minister, the Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath said that more than 55 lakh farmers and common people have been affected due to the floods. The infrastructure has also suffered a big damage. He further said that the state has received more than 46 percent rainfall than normal. Out of 52 districts of the state, 20 districts received 60 percent more rainfall than normal. All the crops of the farmers have been badly damaged. He put forth a demand for listing the tragedy caused by excessive rains in the state in the category of a serious disaster. It may be mentioned that on October 04, 2019, the Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath had also given details of the damage caused by the excessive rainfall and floods to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. At the instance of Shri Kamal Nath, the Prime Minister got the damage caused by the excessive rainfall assessed again by the Central Study Team. The study team has submitted its report to the Union Government after assessing the damage caused in 16 districts of the state between 14 and 16 October. The Chief Minister said that after the assessment, now the Union Government should immediately provide relief fund to the State Government, so that the losses suffered by all the affected people, especially the farmers could be compensated. The Union Minister for Home Shri Amit Shah assured the Chief Minister of all possible help.
