Proposal to divide Bhopal Municipal Corporation into two parts rejected; Uproar in council meeting

Bhopal, October 22, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): The government’s proposal to divide Bhopal Municipal Corporation into two parts has been rejected by the Municipal Corporation Council on the basis of majority. At a special meeting of the Corporation Council on the demand of BJP councilors, Mayor Alok Sharma spoke of rejecting the government’s proposal and maintaining the same municipal corporation in the city amidst a lot of uproar.
In the midst of uproar over this, council president Surjit Singh Chauhan got voting done, in which he had to raise his hands. On this, BJP councilors stood more against the proposal on the basis of majority. After this, the chairman announced to reject the government’s proposal to create two municipal corporations in Bhopal.
Councilors created chaos many times
Mayor Alok Sharma started his statement earlier this morning when the meeting started. As soon as Sharma said that this partition was happening on religious grounds, the Congress councilors created a ruckus. His demand was that the Mayor is the Leader of the House, so he should put his point to the last. First councilors will be given a chance to speak. The uproar continued, Congress councilors surrounded the bloc.
Congress councilors raised slogans of Jai Kamal Nath
Congressmen shouted slogans of Jai Jai Kamal Nath, while the BJPmen shouted slogans of Kamal Nath Murdabad. Congressmen staged and sang Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram Bhajan. At the same time, Congress corporator Guddu Chauhan waved copies of the news published in Dainik Bhaskar. There are 85 councilors in the municipal corporation, in which one BJP councilor has passed away. The BJP has 55 councilors and Congress 29 councilors in the municipal corporation house.
