Digvijaya said – If Savarkar gets Bharat Ratna, it will be a dark day in history

Bhopal, October 24, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh again commented on Savarkar on Wednesday. Singh said in a program that the day Bharat Ratna will be conferred on Savarkar, it will be a dark day in the history of the country. Savarkar supported the British and promised that they would not participate in any movement against imperialism. He was involved in the conspiracy to assassinate Gandhiji, but was liberated due to some technical reasons. On Thursday morning, he also made two tweets about Savarkar.
Digvijay Singh was speaking at a seminar organized by the National Secular Forum on Gandhiji and secularism. The forum convenor LS Hardenia said that Gandhiji had laid the foundation for secular India. Today Gandhi’s secularism is being challenged and efforts are being made to make India a Hindu nation. Earlier on 16 October in Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay had said that there were two aspects of Savarkar’s life. First- joining the freedom movement and second- on apologizing (from Kalapani), his name was listed among the conspirators of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination.
Japa State Spokesperson Rahul Kethari hit back at former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh. He said that he has become irrelevant in politics. The Congress people themselves do not listen to his remarks. As far as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is concerned, it is the largest institution in the world working for the upliftment of society and people. Just as Gandhi is on the people’s psyche, Savarkar’s contribution cannot be forgotten.
