Election Commission prohibits transfer of Madhya Pradesh’s officer-employees for next two months

Bhopal, November 12, 2019 (Ataullah Faizan): Transfer of one lakh officer-employees will be banned in the state for the next two months. The Election Commission has asked the state government not to transfer officers engaged in the work of summary revision of the voter list. Permission should be taken from the Commission, if needed. Actually, the work of summary revision of the voter list is starting in the state from December 16, which will run till February 7 next year. Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantarao says that these directions have been issued due to the summary revision of the voter list. The Election Commission has imposed a duty of 65 thousand BLO for the summary revision of the voter list. At the same time, 50 collectors, 250 SDMs and about 1 thousand tehsildars and naib tehsildars will be deployed in this work. Also, there will be subordinate staff of these officers who will be engaged in this work. All of these will be duty under the Election Commission. If the government has to transfer any of these officers, then it will have to take permission from the commission. 8 to 10 thousand new voters are added every year during the summer revision: As of January 1, 2020, names of 18-year-old youth are to be added to the voters list. According to an estimate, every year during the total revision of the voter list, 2 percent new voters increase, which is around 8 to 10 thousand. The Election Commission has asked the BLO to go door-to-door to verify the voter list, so that all the rites in the voter list can be eliminated. Due to this, the Commission has issued instructions.
