Born in Kanpur, 72-year-old Kamal Nath has been a 9-time MP from Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh. He became MP in 1980, 1985, 1989, 1991, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014. In 1993, there was talk of Kamal Nath becoming the Chief Minister. It is said that then Arjun Singh had given the name of Digvijay Singh forward, so then Kamal Nath had missed becoming the CM of Madhya Pradesh. Several times minister in Congress governments Kamal Nath was the Minister of State Environment (Independent Charge) in 1991, 1995-1996 Minister of Textiles (Independent Charge). He held the post of General Secretary of Congress from 2001-2004. He was the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry in the UPA Government from 2004-2009. Kamal Nath became the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in 2009. In 2011, he was made the Minister of Urban Development. In 2012, he was given additional charge of Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. Kamal Nath’s family owns 23 companies The Kamal Nath family runs a large business.
