Ajit Pawar resigned as 80-hour Deputy CM of Maharashtra under family pressure, may retire from politics

Mumbai . In Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar rebelled with the NCP and joined the government with the BJP. It was only after this that family members started pressuring him to return. Ajit Pawar decided to resign from the government following persistent requests from the family.
  Ajit Pawar resigned as MLA even when Sharad Pawar received the ED notice just before the assembly elections. He then told his son Partha Pawar – farming is more suited than doing politics. This time when the family continued to pressurize him, he resigned from the government on condition of retiring from politics. However, Ajit Pawar has not said anything on this issue so far.

On Monday, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Valse Patil and Jayant Patil held discussions with Ajit Pawar for four hours in the assembly building. However, he did not indicate any return till then. On Tuesday morning, Supriya Sule arrived at a five star hotel in Nariman Point to meet Ajit Pawar with her husband Sadanand Sule. Supriya also got Sharad Pawar talking to him over the phone. After this Ajit’s attitude became soft.

Supriya Sule also made Ajit talk to Sharad Pawar’s wife and his mother Pratibhaitai Pawar. Ajit Pawar treats his aunt Pratibitai as a mother and does not avoid her. Supriya had made Ajith and Pratibhaitai talk about this in mind. Now that along with the party leaders, all the family members were also asking him to resign, he decided to quit politics under pressure.

At that time the decision of the Supreme Court had already arrived and the meeting of the BJP Core Committee was going on. Ajit submitted his resignation to CM Devendra and went to his brother Srinivas Pawar’s house. While there, he spoke to son Parth Pawar. Ajit has also resigned for uncle Sharad Pawar in 1991, when he was an MP from Baramati. Sharad Pawar became the Minister of Defense in the PV Narasimha Rao government after winning this by-election.
